Fine Art Crating in Denver, CO — Paintings, Sculpture & Antiques
Art doesn't get a second chance in transit. Specialized Moving Services builds fine art crates in Denver for paintings, framed works, sculpture, ceramics, mirrors, and antiques — for collectors, galleries, museums, designers, and families moving a single treasured piece. We build on-site in homes and galleries across the Denver metro and the Front Range, so the work is protected from the moment it leaves the wall. Family owned and crating Colorado's valuables since 1988.
How we crate artwork
The right crate depends on the work. A framed oil painting, a glazed pastel, a bronze, and a gilt mirror each fail differently in transit — so each gets a different crate.
- Framed works: glassine or soft wrap, corner protection, and a rigid crate with foam suspension so the frame never bears the shock
- Glazed pieces: glass taped or film-protected against shatter scatter, then isolated from the frame face
- Sculpture and ceramics: custom internal cradles and blocking carved to the form, so weight sits on structure, not on detail
- Mirrors and stone tops: rigid solid-wall crates with edge and face protection — these are the most commonly broken items in ordinary moves
- Travel frames and slat crates for gallery-to-gallery moves where museum handlers do the unpacking
Who calls us
Collectors and homeowners: a single painting going to a new home, an estate's worth of art headed to auction, an antique that's been in the family for a century. We treat one piece with the same process as a collection.
Galleries, museums, and art handlers: outbound crating to your spec, on your floor, on your schedule. We understand condition reports, we photograph everything, and our technicians know how to behave around open work.
Movers and van lines: when the high-value inventory sheet includes art, we're the third-party crating crew you call. The crate arrives documented and ready to load.
Documentation and insurance support
Every art crating job is photo-documented before wrap, after wrap, and after crating. If the piece is insured — and it should be — that record supports your policy and, if the worst happens somewhere down the transit chain, your claim. We also provide claims inspection and documentation as a standalone service.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you crate a single painting?
Yes. Single-piece jobs are a large share of our art work. There's no minimum — if it matters to you, it's worth crating properly.
Do you come to homes and galleries?
Yes, that's our standard practice for art. We build on-site across Denver, Englewood, Boulder, and the Front Range so the work is never transported unprotected.
Can you crate art for international shipping?
Yes — we combine museum-grade interior protection with IPPC-certified, ISPM-15 heat-treated crate construction so the piece clears customs. See our export crating page.
How do you handle antique or fragile frames?
The frame is treated as part of the artwork. We float-pack so shock loads go into the crate structure and foam, never into the gilt or joinery, and we photograph condition before anything is wrapped.
Do you move the art too?
We can. Our specialty moving crew handles local transport of crated art, or we hand off to the shipper or van line of your choice.
