Machinery & Equipment Crating in Denver, CO

Machinery doesn't fit in a box, and it punishes packaging mistakes. Specialized Moving Services builds industrial crates in Denver for manufacturing equipment, CNC machines, pumps, motors, control cabinets, aerospace hardware, and lab instrumentation. We build on-site at plants, job sites, and warehouses across the Denver metro and Front Range — skid-mounted, blocked, braced, and rated for how the crate will actually be lifted and shipped. Family owned, crating Colorado's heavy and sensitive equipment since 1988.

Built for weight, not just size

The first question on a machinery crate isn't the dimensions — it's the weight and the pick points. A crate that can't be forklifted safely is a liability, not packaging.

  • Engineered skid bases sized to the load, with forklift access from the sides the riggers will actually use
  • Bolted-down blocking so the machine can't shift, with load spread across its frame — not its covers or fittings
  • Solid-wall or slat construction depending on protection and inspection needs
  • Vapor-barrier sealing with desiccant for machines with electronics, bearings, or bare machined surfaces
  • IPPC / ISPM-15 heat-treated lumber and bug stamp for export shipments
  • Removable panels or lids where the destination needs crane or hoist access for uncrating

Who this is for

Manufacturers and industrial businesses: shipping product, relocating a line, or sending equipment out for repair. We crate at your dock so the machine goes from rigger to crate in one handling step.

Riggers, machinery movers, and freight carriers: we're the crating subcontractor on jobs where your customer's equipment needs more than shrink wrap and a pallet. We coordinate with your crew and your schedule.

Aerospace, medical, and lab operations: instrumentation and calibrated equipment that needs shock isolation, moisture control, and a documented chain of handling.

On-site at your facility

Moving a machine to a crating shop doubles the handling risk. We build the crate around the machine at your facility — coordinated with your riggers if the piece is already on a skid, or building the skid ourselves if it isn't. Our technicians have worked plant floors from Denver to Colorado Springs; they show up insured, on time, and ready to work around your production schedule.

How it works

  1. 1

    Spec the load

Dimensions, weight, pick points, destination, and shipping mode. Photos or drawings of the machine help us engineer the skid right.

  2. 2

    Quote and schedule

Firm pricing and a build date that works around your production and your rigger's schedule.

  3. 3

    Build on-site

Skid, blocking, sheathing, vapor barrier if specced — built at your facility with photos documenting the machine before it's sealed.

  4. 4

    Ready for freight

The crate leaves labeled, stamped if export-bound, and rated for the forklift or crane that's picking it up.

Frequently Asked Questions

How heavy can you crate?

We routinely crate equipment weighing several tons. The practical limits are usually access and rigging, not the crate — tell us the weight and the site conditions and we'll spec it or tell you straight if it needs a different approach.

Do you build at our facility?

Yes — on-site construction at plants, warehouses, and job sites is the standard for machinery work. We serve the Denver metro, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.

Can you crate machinery for export?

Yes. Export machinery crates are built from ISPM-15 heat-treated lumber with the IPPC bug stamp, and we add vapor-barrier sealing with desiccant for ocean freight. See our export crating page.

Do you do the rigging too?

We coordinate with your rigger or machinery mover rather than replace them. Our job is the crate: skid, blocking, and enclosure built around the machine wherever it sits.

What about sensitive electronics and instrumentation?

Shock-isolating foam, vapor-barrier film, and desiccant — plus photo documentation of connections and condition before sealing. Calibrated equipment gets treated like the expensive thing it is.
